Derby Street Green Space Coming in May

“Derby St. Green,” a newly-created space for various events and activities, will launch in May at Hingham’s top family-friendly destination, Derby Street Shops.

Here’s the scoop:  A large area of turf (105 ft. x 40 ft.), accompanied by beautiful new landscaping, will be installed between Kohl’s and REI—the central location for many of Derby Street’s outdoor programming—to create a more inviting and versatile area for Derby’s growing lineup of events.

“We started using the space for our event programming last year and found that local families enjoyed it as a safe place for children to play and partake in popular happenings such as our music series. This location is also the home to our Woody Wall which will debut as a new iteration in May. We can’t wait to reveal all of the details for this exciting new space in the coming weeks!” said Sherri Schuler, General Manager of Derby Street Shops.

Due to the success of Derby Street’s many events and activities such as hopscotch, the Adirondack chair, and the Little Free Library—all of which were added last year—this shopping and activity haven has become a leading family-friendly destination on the South Shore. The launch of the new green space will further enhance the experience for the whole family.
